- About Medusa - The aim of MEDUSA is to create a new art dedicated space in the heart of Europe, Brussels. The objectives of Medusa are multiples: The first aspect of the project is obviously cultural. Medusa attempts to boost Brussels’ artistic life. Taking the form of a project space, the very base of the project is to present uniques artworks in the cultural capital that Brussels is. Led by a collectif of three young artists and two writers, the idea of the project is to propose, and provoke, a new perception regarding the Belgian art scene. The opened spirit of the exhibitions as much as the diversity of the artists represented will be a priority for the project. Therefore, its concretisation will be the practical versant of a theoretic criticism against a certain classicism in the Belgian art field. Secondly, Medusa aims to create a project with a human purpose. The space itself will be warming and welcoming. The configuration will be thought to erase the barrier often created between the gallerist and the visitor. The heart of the project is to make a space where everybody is welcome to share and to learn during aesthetic experiences. Medusa wants to allow people to gather in a same cultural space beyond generational, sociological, or more specifically, linguistic barriers that are still very present in Belgium. Finally, we believe that organising exhibitions in such a space is actually giving more power and focus to the artistic experience itself. Indeed, it is only when one feels welcome and comfortable that one can enjoy the greatest cultural experiences.
